An Act of Kindness

Happy Thursdays My Beautiful Friends,

Isaiah 58:11
“The Lord will guide you always. He will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail.”

There is something so special about how God fills us up. When we feel empty, tired, stretched thin, and even emotionally drained, God steps in and gently restores us. He doesn’t just patch us up temporarily. He continually pours into us. His Spirit brings a type of refreshment that this world simply can’t offer. It’s steady. It’s faithful. It never runs dry.

We need that kind of restoration, especially when we’re trying to help others. Because the truth is, serving can become exhausting when we try to do it out of our own strength. Without God’s presence filling us daily, helping others can start to feel like a task instead of a joy. Sometimes it even builds resentment.

I’ve noticed this most within families. People will help, but you can tell they’re frustrated about it. You hear the sighs, you see the eye rolls, and feel the tension. It’s like they’re helping you because they have to, not because they want to. And when that becomes the atmosphere, love gets lost in the doing. It’s no longer an act of kindness. It becomes a chore.

But what if we looked at it differently?
What if every opportunity to help someone was a chance to show God’s love in action? What if we paused and said, “God, thank you for letting me be available. Thank you for letting me be a vessel for kindness.” That small shift in perspective changes everything.

When God is at the center of your heart and your actions, helping others doesn’t drain you, it fulfills you. It’s no longer a matter of doing it out of duty, but out of genuine compassion. It becomes less about obligation and more about overflow. You begin to serve with a joy that only comes from God.

And you know what else? You start to see people differently too. You begin to understand that love doesn’t just speak through big gestures, it whispers through the little things. Through showing up. Through helping when no one is watching. Through choosing patience instead of irritation.

So let this be a gentle reminder. You do not have to serve from an empty place. God is ready to fill you again and again. He is your source. Let Him be the reason you love people well. Not because you have to. But because you are filled with something real. Something refreshing. Something everlasting.

Reflection:
Today, take a moment to ask God to refill you. Not just to get through the day, but to pour out His love through you. Ask Him to change your heart from frustration to compassion. From tiredness to peace. And from obligation to joy. Let every act of kindness be a reflection of the One who strengthens you like a well-watered garden.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend!!

With love,

Your Friend, Chelsey
