His Eyes, Your Faith
Hi, my beautiful friends,
This morning, God led me to 1 Kings 19:1–18.
Elijah was a prophet who had just experienced two major victories. He defeated the prophets of Baal, who led people into evil, and he prayed for rain after a long drought, and God answered. But when Queen Jezebel heard what happened, she sent Elijah a message vowing to kill him.
Even after these amazing victories, Elijah ran for his life. He was overwhelmed by fear, exhaustion, and deep discouragement.
After a day’s journey into the wilderness, Elijah sat under a broom bush and cried out to God:
“I have had enough, Lord. Take my life; I am no better than my ancestors.”
Then he lay down under the bush and fell asleep.
But God didn’t leave him there.
An angel touched him and said, “Get up and eat.” And beside him was bread baked over hot coals and a jar of water. Then again the angel said, “Get up and eat, for the journey is too much for you.”
Strengthened by that food, Elijah traveled forty days and forty nights until he reached Horeb, the mountain of God.
God still had a mission for him. Elijah’s purpose wasn’t finished.
It’s crazy to think about the plans God has for us. Things we don’t always see or understand. But learning to trust that He is with us every step of the way is what keeps us going.
Have you ever felt let down after a big win?
That’s how discouragement works. It often hits hardest after something good.
Reading Elijah’s story, I couldn’t help but reflect on my own life.
I launched this website on July 1st. I was so excited. I stayed up late making sure everything was just right. But with my kids, it gets overwhelming. Writing, working, and being present for my little ones is a lot. Some days I feel hopeless, like I can’t focus or give my best to anything.
That’s where discouragement tries to creep in.
But this story reminded me that God is always with us.
He will give you the strength you need.
My aunt once told me, “God will never put you through anything you can’t handle.”
That’s stuck with me and it’s true.
Discouragement is one of the enemy’s strongest weapons. He wants us to quit.
He wants us to sit in our feelings of hopelessness.
But the moment we give it to God, He begins to move.
Father, I pray You continue to speak love and peace into the heart of the one reading this.
Give them strength to overcome the doubt and discouragement.
Speak life into them. Remind them how worthy they are because You created them on purpose, for a purpose.
I hope this message encouraged you as much as it encouraged me. I’ve gained discernment, and I’m learning to apply what I need to overcome the discouragement that tries to dim my light.
Have a very blessed day.
With love,
Your friend, Chelsey
