When God Feels Silent

“Behold, I go forward, but He is not there,
and backward, but I do not perceive Him;
on the left hand when He is working, I do not behold Him;
He turns to the right hand, but I do not see Him.
But He knows the way that I take;
when He has tried me, I shall come out as gold.

Job 23:8–10 (ESV)

Hi My Beautiful Friends,

HAPPY WEDNESDAY.

God, thank you for bringing this reader here to this page. I pray you speak to them through this message and give them the strength that they need to overcome any situation that they are dealing with.

Have you ever been in deep sorrow, crying out to God with everything in you. Only to be met with silence?

It’s one of the loneliest feelings.
You start wondering:
“Did I do something wrong? Have I sinned too much? Is God punishing me?”
Your thoughts spiral, your heart aches, and in desperation, you start to doubt.
You begin leading with emotion instead of faith. You run to others for advice or clarity. Just needing something, anything, to make it all make sense.

And truthfully, there’s nothing wrong with seeking Godly counsel.
But I’ve learned that before I do that, I need to sit with the silence. And that’s the hardest part.

The silence makes me uncomfortable.
The unknown makes me anxious.
And that anxiety can make me impulsive.
But it’s in those moments that I realize where my trust is lacking.
It shows me how much I still try to control things instead of surrendering to God.

I’m learning this:
Even in silence - God is not absent.
Even when I feel alone - He has not left me.
Even when I assume He’s upset with me -He’s still near.

Here’s an example that hits close to home for me as a parent:
You’re doing all the behind-the-scenes work cooking, cleaning, laundry. All the things your children don’t fully understand yet.

And in the middle of it all, your child is calling for you, crying for your attention, needing to feel your love.
You’re there. You hear them. You’re just busy preparing for them.

Eventually, you stop what you’re doing and show up, because you love them.
You meet them in their need, even if they didn’t understand your silence.

That’s what God does for us.

He isn’t ignoring us.
He’s working on things we can’t see yet.
He’s preparing things we’re not ready for.
And He always shows up at the right time.

Sometimes, His silence is a test of our faith.
To see if we’ll trust when we don’t feel.
To see if we’ll believe when we don’t hear.
To teach us how to wait well.

So if you’re in that space right now feeling forgotten or abandoned know this:

God is present.
God is working.
God still loves you.

He’s not punishing you.
He’s preparing you.

Sit in the silence.
Keep seeking Him.
Keep showing up in prayer.
And let the quiet place be where your faith grows deeper roots.

“The Lord is good to those who wait for him, to the soul who seeks him.”
Lamentations 3:25

God is so good! Thank you, thank you, thank YOU for being here. I hope you have a very blessed day!

with love,

Your Friend, Chelsey
