Is it God speaking?
Hi my beautiful friends,
Have you ever found yourself so distracted by the good things happening in your life that you forget to make time for God? Sometimes we only go to Him when we really need help or guidance. But by then, the consequences of our own decisions are already starting to unfold.
The truth is: the more you go to God first, the more He’ll guide you to the right decisions. Don’t let your feelings in the moment drive your choices. It’s easy to get confused. Is this God? Is this just me? Or is it the enemy? That was my biggest question when I started learning about God.
I used to always lead with how I felt and what I thought was best for me. But I kept asking: how do you know it's God?
The answer? The Bible. Everything God wants for us is already written there. Reading the Bible, especially the Life Application Study Bible, has helped me not only understand His truth, but actually start applying it to my life.
Sometimes we believe the decisions we’re making are good ones just because they feel right. But not everything that feels good is good. One of the biggest examples in my life was forgiveness.
I used to hold onto grudges, especially when someone hurt me deeply. Forgiveness didn’t come easy for me. But the very first verse I learned in the Bible hit me hard:
Matthew 6:14 (NIV)
“For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.”
That verse held a mirror to my heart. I’m not perfect. I make mistakes. So who was I to withhold grace from others when God shows it to me daily?
It wasn’t an overnight change. I still have moments where I forgive, and then later get hit with a memory or trigger, and the enemy tries to pull me back into bitterness. But I don’t let it control me anymore.
Surrounding myself with people who are also trying to live a kind and loving life through Christ has helped me build strength. We’re not alone in this walk.
If you’re struggling with forgiveness or direction, you’re not alone. Take it one prayer, one verse, one step at a time. God’s right there, ready to lead you.
I hope you have a beautiful day.
God bless,
Your friend, Chelsey
